1935 Silver Jubilee Celebrations
King George V and Queen Mary.
School closed for Silver Jubilee. All children presented with a Jubilee
Mug by Mr A Dent and a Union Jack by Mrs R Long.

Celebration programme read as following:-

Cawston Branch British Legion, Cawston Prize Silver Band,
Rangers, Guides, Scouts, Friendly Societies.
Regalia to be worn if possible.

Traps assemble on Market Hill for judging 12.45

, for Cawston babies under 2 years

10/- will be presented to the first male child and the first female child born in Cawston on or after the 6th
May 1935. The children to be named respectively George and Mary.

Planting the Commemoration Copper Beech Tree on land kindly given by Mrs Granville Duff.

Free Tea will be provided for all children and people of 70 and over.
A Silver Mug will be presented to each child by Mrs Bradburne.
Light refreshments will be provided for all.
Parishioners of 70 and over will be given a Commemoration Canister of Tea which will be delivered
to their homes.

1937 Coronation Celebrations 
The programme read as following:-
10.45am with a united service in Cawston Parish Church which was also attended by the Cawston Branch British Legion, Cawston Prize Silver Band, Rangers, Guides, Scouts and Friendly Societies. Regalia to be worn if possible.

3.55pm  Coronation Mugs will be presented to Cawston School Children by Mr. and Mrs. A.I. Dent.
4.00pm  A Free sit down Tea will be provided for all children. (if wet in the Institute)
              A Free sit down Meat Tea will be provided for all parishioners including a pint of beer for
              the men. (if wet in Mr. Payne's barn)
              Will Grown-ups kindly bring a knife and fork.
4.14pm   Ladies' Tea
5.00pm   Gentlemen's Tea
6.00pm   Grand Sports Programme commences.
7.00pm   The King's Speech and the other Speeches will be broadcast on the Lawn.
9.00pm   Presentation of Prizes by Mrs Mc Dougall and Dancing on the lawn.

Celebration:- Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II

The Coronation was celebrated enthusiastically by the parish 2nd June, 1953.
The school children had a weeks holiday, with Coronation day on June 2nd.,
when despite heavy rain a procession of decorated floats, a football match,
a fancy dress competition and parish teas went ahead and were enjoyed by all ages.
The Programme read as following:-
  8 am    Holy Communion in Cawston Parish Church
10am    United Service in Cawston Parish Church with
               Cawston Silver Band in attendance
1.30pm  Grand Decorated Parade,
                Assemble on Market Hill for Judging
                Marshal:- Mr C.A.Pye
                Horse Wagons, Tractors, Cars.
                Judgers- Mrs H. Mc Dougall, Messrs G.N.Foster
                L. Cross. A Ramsey.
                Special Prizes for decorated bicycles and perambulators.
                Fancy Dress Parade- Judges:- Mesdames M. Clark, S. Dent.
                G. N. Foster.  H. Rodwell, J.P. Shaw. Van Camp.
               1st, 2nd and 3rd Prizes in Four Glasses:- 1 & 2:-  Girls & Boys under 10
                                                                                         3 & 4:-  Girls & Boys over 10
1.45pm   Grand Procession,
                 Cawston Silver Prize Band, Route via Sygate and Eastgate returning to the
                 Homestead. (By kind permission of Mr R.J.Payne)
4.00pm    Football Match
5.00pm    Tea for Children in C.C.M.I. Followed by presentation of souvenirs by
                  Major H. Rodwell, M.C. Chairman of the Parish Council.
                  A Buffet Tea will be free for everyone.
6.15pm    Sports on the Homestead.
9.00pm    Gala Dance in C.C.M.I. Tickets 2/- M.C. Mr S.Lee. The Modernaires Band
Sunday, 31st May--Trinity Sunday:- An Order of Divine Service has been issued by
                command of the Queen. Services at usual times.
Monday, 1st June:- Tea for the older folk in the C.C.M.I. at 5.00pm

25th May:- School Managers and parents were invited to the school where the Rev. E.F.W. Ames
presented to each child a "Coronation New Testament" , the gift of the Norfolk Education Committee.

Silver Jubilee
1977 saw the Queen's Silver Jubilee. Villages, towns and cities all over the country celebrated the event with parades and street parties. In Cawston it was memorable occasion, with a whole week of varied activities, including special services, floats, sports events at the School, a Jubilee Disco, Maypole Dancing, a concert by Cawston Band, and the street party in the High Street, which was possibly the highlight of the festivities. The photos and programme below give you an idea of how Cawston celebrated.

Golden Jubilee:-                   

On May 27th 2002 the Primary School had celebrations for the 50 years of our Queen's Reign with a variety of Jubilee activities for the children culminating with a special party and the presentation of
commemorative mementos for all the children.
Sunday June 2nd 2002 a United Service was held in St. Agnes' Church. and afterwards a Royal Tea Party was held with floral tributes from local organisations, music, quiz's for adults, games for children and "Best Crown" competition. A party fayre was held with tea and coffee, tickets for this was 50p to cover the cost of food and to know how many people to cater for.
Sunday June 16th 2002 a Summer Fayre was held at the Primary School which was organised by the Friends of Cawston Primary

 Royal Visitors
In 1294 Edward 1 came here on a hunting trip.

The Church visitors book show Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother was here in 1982 and again in 1984.

Friday 21st May 1993
The Prince of Wales was guest of honour at a concert at Cawston Church staged by Music in Country Churches of which he is patron.
The Prince chatted to Scouts, schoolgirls and other locals on his short walk from the helicopter landing field on the farm of Mr Jimmy Payne. (also used as car park)
The Prince heard soprano Yvonne Kenny and pianist Malcolm Martineau perform works by Schubert, Mahler, Liszt, Hahn and Walton.
