Midland & GN Railway, Bridge swept away during flood Aug 1912 Melton & Gt Yarmouth line.

Mr John Kett referred to one of the heaviest rains recorded in Norfolk this century in the Cawston Parish Magazine 1996. when in August, 1912, 7.5 inches of rain fell in Norwich in 24 hours, and over 3000 homes in the city were destroyed or damaged. Road and rail travel were badly hit over a wide area, and it was a long time before low-lying land began to recover. Mr O.N. Thrower (Buster) referred to this in the Cawston Parish Magazine 1994 - On the 12th August, 1912 sheaves of corn floated about fields, bridges were washed away; some I remember were Itteringham, Ingworth, Coltishall, Gt Witchingham, Ringland and a small culvert at the bottom of Dawg Corner, Heydon.
