Moving to Cawson in 1937/8 Mr & Mrs Wesley Riley took over the grocery shop situated opposite to the Westleyan Reform Chapel in Chapel Street, the shop had a good selection of all foodstuffs as well as fruit and vegetables  and a small room at the back for children’s clothes and all sorts of gifts such as imitation jewellery, children’s books and annuals and toys etc. In later years the shop was ran by their son Harold and daughter in law Gwen until about 1980 who also had the shop at market hill and a fitted out mobile shop including a tank for the sale of paraffin which was driven by Harold and went out six days a week delivering orders for many miles around.
